Indonesia’s Leading Private BINUS University Appointed National Tsing Hua University Senior Vice President Da Hsuan Feng As Advisory Board Member

One of Indonesia’s leading private universities, BINUS University of Jakarto has appointed Dr. Da Hsuan Feng, Senior Vice President for Global Strategies, Planning and Evaluation of National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, to be a member of its prestigious Advisory Board.
In his letter inviting Dr. Feng to be a member of this board, Rector (President) Harjanto Prabowo said that “BINUS Advisory Council (BAC) is a council comprising of very prominent leaders from various backgrounds (academic and industry) selected for his/her passion dedication to education, whose main role is to give strategic advice to leaders of Binus Nusantara Foundation and BINUS University.”

The journey of Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University began on October 21, 1974 and in 1996 it formally became BINUS University. Today, BINUS has Faculty of Economics and Communications, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Information System, School of Business and Management, School of Art and Design. BINUS has over 24,000 students and over 1050 faculty members, and her first campus outside Jakarta will begin operations in October 2013. The accolade of Best Private University was accorded to BINUS in early 2013 by Kopertis III under Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia. BINUS also won the annual Indonesian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Study Award from 2010 to 2012.

According to Dr. Feng, “as soon as I came on board to NTHU nearly three years ago, President Lih J. Chen had requested that I explore a comprehensive strategy to liaise with one of the BRIIC nations in Southeast Asia, Indonesia. Upon reflection, I concluded that due to its sheer magnitude in landmass and population, Indonesia could become, if not already, the engine for 21st century Southeast Asia, and its universities would be the engine of the country.”

“In the past two years, by interacting with a number of BINUS’ academicians and administrators, I have learnt that it is indeed a forward looking and proactive institution that is located in one of the most exciting and fast growing metropolis of Asia, Jakarta. In my recent visit to BINUS and Jakarta, I saw firsthand that everyone I encountered seemed to be forward looking, wanting BINUS to be one of the engines of Indonesia,” said Dr. Feng.
“It is for these reasons that I am humbled and excited to represent National Tsing Hua University, and to work hand-in-hand with outstanding colleagues in BINUS University to create win-win scenarios for BINUS and NTHU in particular, Taiwan and Indonesia in general!” concluded Feng.
About National Tsing Hua University (NTHU)
National Tsing Hua University is a research university with a long and proud tradition. Since the re-establishment in Hsinchu in 1956, the university has been known for her excellent academic programs as well as her spacious verdant campus. NTHU initially began in Taiwan with nuclear sciences studies, and gradually expanded to include general sciences and engineering; in the past twenty years, the social sciences and humanities, life sciences, information sciences, and management sciences were added. Over the last fifty-five years, NTHU has transformed herself into a comprehensive university and is recognized globally in many disciplines. There are thirteen Academia Sinica Academicians on the faculty, and sixteen professors awarded with various National Chair Professorships. Among the fifty thousand alumni, there is one Nobel Laureate Yuan Tseh Lee and twelve Academicians. The university development, with active participation from all staff members, has been built on a transparent and progressive platform, and the campus life is visibly permeated with vitality and enthusiasm, with the eight colleges complementing each other in scholastic endeavors. Wetseh ! Jangan mikir yang aneh-aneh dulu ya. Sebenarnya saya juga agak ragu untuk melekatkan judul tersebut dalam blog saya. PERASAAN HANCUR DI LEMBAH KARMEL PUNCAK

Ada yang tahu Lembah Karmel di Puncak - Jawa Barat ? Bagi sebagian besar umat Katolik, saya pastikan tempat tersebut tidaklah asing di telinga. Konon, daerah yang menjadi lokasi pertapaan dari Romo Yohanes tersebut, memiliki kekuatan dalam melahirkan manusia baru melalui Mujizat yang terjadi disana. Sebagai informasi, Lembah Karmel rutin mengadakan misa penyembuhan setiap 2x dalam sebulan, yakni setiap Minggu ke-2 dan ke-4. Berhubung waktunya pas, kami ber-4 pun memutuskan untuk melakukan perjalanan rohani tersebut pada Sabtu siang agar dapat menghadiri misa penyembuhan yang diselenggarakan di hari Minggunya; 12 November 2017. Sepanjang perjalanan ke Puncak, kami ber-3, Saya, Feby dan Peter pun berdialog mengenai keraguan akan Mujizat yang terjadi di Lembah Karmel. Terlebih saya, yang pernah beberapa kali mengikuti Ibadah Mujizat namun tidak pernah berhasil. Singkat cerita, di hari Minggu pagi saat perjalanan menuju Lembah Karmel. Istilah manusia terlahir untuk menjadi pemimpin, saya rasa sangat tepat untuk "modal" para motivator. Karena jika kita bicara tentang kenyataan, khususnya kehidupan sosial, kita tidak akan lepas dari sifat Dominan. Begitu juga di dalam kehidupan Rumah Tangga.
